NEW: In the Embrace of Stone and Fine Karst Wines

From stone to glass – discover Štanjel, the legacy of Maks Fabiani, and the outstanding wines of a traditional family winery.

For centuries, stone has shaped Štanjel – its appearance, its character, and its way of life. As you stroll down the village's narrow stone alleys, you discover carefully restored Karst houses that tell stories of generations of local people, and have a chance to see the area's preserved rich architectural heritage.

At the heart of this experience are the Ferrari Garden, where water, greenery, stone, and thoughtfully designed spaces come together in perfect harmony, and Natalija's House, home to the permanent exhibition “The Tree, the Architect and the Garden”. The exhibition takes visitors into the creative world of the architect and urban planner Dr Maks Fabiani, revealing his relationship with nature and the Karst landscape. Together, they offer a unique insight into Štanjel's cultural heritage and provide the perfect introduction to an authentic Karst wine experience at the renowned Vina Kobal family winery where premium still and sparkling wines are crafted with respect for tradition and a deep love of nature. The quality of their wines has been recognised with multiple awards in Slovenia and abroad. The vineyards stretch across Štanjel, where for centuries the region's distinctive red soil has shaped the character of Karst wines.

The Kobal family has preserved its long-standing winemaking tradition while continuously building on it with pride and dedication. With commitment, perseverance, and a genuine passion for viticulture and winemaking, today they are one of the leading wineries in the Karst wine-growing region despite their modest size.
