A wedding is a special event in life and the village of Štanjel can provide a truly special venue for it. First, because the karst landscape surrounding it, the typical architecture and all the special characteristics make the village an outstanding venue for a wedding ceremony, providing the perfect backdrop for surprisingly beautiful, even ‘magical’ wedding photos. Yet Štanjel has much more to offer. For a wedding ceremony, either civil or church, you can choose almost any location. A special ceremonial space is available for a wedding dinner, topped off by an exquisite culinary offer. Your wedding will be taken care of down to the tiniest detail.
A civil wedding ceremony can be organised in the Lojze Spacal Gallery, which is also an official marriage registry office. But you can also choose from among the many open-air nooks, with the medieval village or Ferrari Garden providing a dramatic backdrop to the ceremony, completed with beautiful views of the Karst landscape.

The venue might be the famous Church of St Daniel which is perhaps, due to its peculiar bell tower, the most recognisable symbol of Štanjel. The Gothic church, built in mid-15th century and then reconstructed in the Baroque period when the famous stone altars were added, provides the perfect setting for a wedding ceremony. The exterior of the church and the famous stairway are among the most beautiful backdrops for wedding photos.

With its distinctive skyline, the Štanjel Castle creates the recognisable image of the medieval village on the Turn Hill and, inside its interior stunningly beautiful rooms, one can find signs of its rich history. Perhaps the most beautiful of all is the Knight’s Hall, which you might choose as the venue for your wedding dinner and celebration. The hall will be solemnly decorated and the old walls themselves, with typical architectural details, will create a fairy-tale backdrop. You cannot find a better location, with seating for up to 120 people. The exquisite culinary offer is provided by Qkomel – Bistro Grad Štanjel & Gostilna Kobjeglava Restaurant, famous for its modern interpretation of the Karst culinary tradition and its refined attitude to guests.
