Discover the creative opus of one of the most important urban planners of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy.
This exhibition, displayed in the Square Tower in Štanjel, is dedicated to one of the most important urban planners of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and a great architect, whose material and spiritual legacy is visible at every step in this area.
Fabiani’s broad creative opus ranks him among the top architects of Central Europe at the turn of the 20th century. His works reveal an original artist, an advanced engineer and a sensitive urban designer. Through his essays and life story, you will learn about the professional and personal breadth of the architect Maks Fabiani, who was also a thinker, an innovator and a visionary.
He left an indelible mark on Štanjel during his 20-year period of office as mayor (1935–1945). You can explore his achievements and his most famous legacy, the Ferrari Garden, in the Fabiani’s Štanjel guided tour.
You can visit the Maks Fabiani Exhibition during the working hours of the Štanjel Castle Visitor Centre.
