The “Venček” Cultural and Ethnological Society preserves the old folk tradition of making wreaths of St John. This custom is based on the popular belief that the plants picked hold a special superpower. The locals used to make wreaths with love and then hung them on their front doors to protect their homes from bad luck and to attract good luck. Find out more about this beautiful old Karst custom that is also listed in the Register of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Slovenia.

Start of the tour Štanjel Castle Visitor Centre
The guide will unveil the secrets of the stone alleys and courtyards where the millennia-old stories of the Karst are tossed about by the Bora wind. We walk through Štanjel, past the Karst House, up to the Gledanica Archaeological Park, and the final stop is the terrace of Štanjel – the Ferrari Garden, which Fabiani put on the European map of architectural excellence in the 1920s and 1930s as part of the renovation of Villa Ferrari. The tour ends in the Štanjel Castle Wine Shop, where we will make a toast with premium wine, to which the Karst soil lends a tantalising flavour and edge.
Organised by: ORA Krasa in Brkinov d.o.o.
