Štanjel is attractive any time of the year, but the pre-holiday lights and atmosphere of expectation add genuine charm to this medieval village.
Christmas nativity scenes prepared by the villagers of Štanjel will be exhibited on the streets of medieval Štanjel from 14 December 2025 until 11 January 2026.
Walk through the streets of medieval Štanjel and discover the nativity scenes hidden on windowsills, doorsteps, walls... Enjoy the festive atmosphere created by the works of art made by the diligent hands of the Štanjel villagers. Mark the locations of the Christmas nativity scenes on the map with the corresponding numbers. The map will be waiting for you in the Entrance Tower of Štanjel Castle and on the street in front of the Karst House. Place the completed map with all the details in the black oval letterbox at the entrance to the castle courtyard. From 12 to 16 January 2026, we will draw winners from among all the correctly completed maps, who will receive prizes donated by local providers.
You will also find tablets with QR codes at 8 visible locations. Scan them and register in the app at the first question. Then answer the questions about Štanjel and the tradition of setting up Christmas nativity scenes in the quiz. This will enter you into a prize draw to be held between 12 and 16 January 2026.
The quiz and the prize game to discover the nativity scenes around Štanjel are independent. To take part in the quiz, please give your consent and contact details at the beginning of the online questionnaire.
The two prize games run from 14 December 2025 until 11 January 2026.
