The Ferrari Garden

The entry point is the renovated Natalija’s House, a creative garden for more than 30 contemporary artists and designers – from guardians of Fabiani’s heritage to the spatial practice Sara&Sara and exhibition design by the Nea Culpa collective. In the 1920s and 1930s this house formed part of Villa Ferrari, which Fabiani created from several buildings along the Štanjel’s eastern wall. Today it houses a hub for the local community and a visitor centre with an exhibition on the Ferrari Garden and its architect.

The entry point to the Ferrari Garden offers an immersive experience of Max Fabiani’s visions, from architectural drawings to flying machines. Once part of Villa Ferrari, it is today a house for the local community, visitors and creatives. View the permanent exhibition on the garden, raise a glass in the water bar and discover the architect as an inventor.

The Ferrari garden in a new light

Today one of the most visited attractions in the Karst, once the shared garden of Villa Ferrari, where the family and their guests spent leisurely days. The garden provided work for the entire local community. Fabiani integrated it with woodland, orchard and meadow areas to create a park criss-crossed by circular paths that visitors can explore.

Permanent exhibition: The tree, the architect and the garden

The permanent exhibition in Natalija’s House tells stories of a garden of creativity, heritage and community – about how to nurture them, both inside and outside. It is also the story of the architect Max Fabiani and the great Fabiani and Ferrari families, who left a profound mark on life in Štanjel in the interwar period.

The heart of the local community

The Ferrari Garden has always been a place in which locals and visitors come together. In the 1920s and 1930s, when our garden was taking shape in the mind and dreams of Max Fabiani, Natalija’s House was famous as the home of Natalija Ščurk, a wonderful and generous hostess. Today the house is a welcoming centre for the local community.
